Sunday, May 20, 2007 Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines Bohol has 23 new mayors, 34 new sanggunian heads Bohol now has 23 new mayors and at least 34 new Sanggunian presiding officers as the un-official tally of votes build up at the tabulation centers here following the May 14 elections.
It was bloody for Bohol’s first district of 14 towns and a city, when 10 lost their mayors to new ones. Winners are Jose Ugduracion Jr. (Alburquerque), Jaime Quibel (Antequera), Alvin Uy (Baclayon), Victoria Chatto (Balilihan), Sulpicio Yu jr. (Calape), Lloyd Peter Lopez (Loon), Leoncio Evasco Jr. (Matibojoc), Benedicto Alcala (Panglao), Ireneo Calimpusan (Sikatuna) and Luna Piezas (Tubigon). Meanwhile Dan Lim lead the re-electionists in the district while Vito Rapal (Corella), Apolinaria Balistoy (Cortes), Luciano Bongalos (Dauis) and Roberto Salinas (Catigbian) retained their seats.
On the second district, winning the top town seats are neophytes Nino Rey Boniel (Bien Unido), Germinio Relampagos (Dagohoy), Jose Jono Jumamoy (Inabanga), Tesalonica Boyboy (Pres. Carlos P. Garcia), Apolinar Gumanid Jr. (San Isidro), Claudio Bonior (San Miguel) and Judith Cajes for Trinidad. The district has now evened the number of new and re-electionist mayors at 7 each.
